The Senate has on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Dr. Bernard Doro as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
NPO Reported that President Bola Tinubu last week written to the Senate for the approval of Doro’s appointment.
Tinubu had appointed the Clinical Practitioner as replacement of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda who vacated his ministerial role following his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman.
In response to the President’s demand, the Senate today screened Doro during it plenary session.
The screening exercise was reportedly concluded within 30 minutes with the lawmakers unanimously confirming the presidential appointee.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa LGA of Plateau State, Doro reportedly has over 20 years of multidisciplinary experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in the UK and Nigeria.
He has degrees in Pharmacy and law, an MBA focusing on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
He is an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with NHS frontline experience across urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospital settings.
Prior to his appointment, the new minister has also led youth mentorship and social impact initiatives in the diaspora and local communities.
