The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions has rescheduled the disciplinary proceeding against the Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Natasha was referred to the committee following her outburst against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, over seat arrangement.
NPO reported that the Senator representing Kogi Central Constituency, had on the 20th of February 20 disrupted Red Chamber’s plenary session as she clashed with Akpabio for changing her seat.
Rejecting her assigned seat, Natasha defied the Senate President’s order which led to her suspension.
Barely a week after the drama, the Kogi lawmaker would proceed to make a shocking revelation during an interview on Arise TV where she accused the Senate President of making sexual advances towards her.
She alleged that her rejection of Akpabio’s sexual advances marked the beginning of her troubles in the Senate.
The allegation had sparked public outrage with protesters gathering at the National Assembly this morning, demanding for Akpabio’s resignation.
NPO earlier reported an Abuja Federal High Court order stopping the Senate from taking disciplinary action against Natasha.
Sequel to the development, the Senate Ethics Committee, in a letter referenced NASS/S/10/EPP/DSNAU/2, stated that the hearing would take place at Meeting Room 120 in the New Senate Building, National Assembly, Abuja.
It also emphasised that the rescheduling did not invalidate the contents of the earlier invitation.
“Please, Distinguished, the rescheduling of the date of the Public Hearing does not invalidate the other contents of the letter earlier sent to you on the same matter as above.
“The Committee regrets any inconvenience the sudden change of date may have caused.
“Accept the assurances of the Committee’s highest esteem, please,” the letter added.
