The Senate has called on the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to probe reports claiming that the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was rushed to a London hospital on health emergency after allegedly collapsing.
NO Reported that popular Nigerian journalist, Adeola Fayehun, had on Sunday called for prayers for the Senate President as she alleged that he had been admitted at a London hospital for emergency medical care.
Fayehun made the disclosure in a post on her Instagram handle.
She disclosed that her sources in London confirmed that Akpabio is currently on admission at a hospital following an alleged collapse.
Fayehun had also seized the moment to question Nigeria’s over dependence on foreign medical care by political leaders.
She expressed personal distress that Akpabio had to be flown to London, pointing out that the five-to-six-hour flight time from Abuja to London could be critical in the face of an emergency.
The journalist questioned why Nigeria’s top officials still seek treatment abroad despite repeated claims of heavy investment in healthcare infrastructure.
