One of Nigeria’s advocacy organizations Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project on Saturday threatened Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state with legal action should the Governor fail to reverse his decision to suspend the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adepele Ojo.
SERAP said the vicious cycle of alleged illegalities must end if Nigeria must enjoy democracy.
“Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke must immediately reverse his apparently unlawful removal of Adepele Ojo as the Chief Judge of Osun state.
“This vicious cycle of authoritarian attacks on the rule of law must stop. We’ll see in court if this illegality is not reversed.”
NPO Reports that Adeleke on Friday said he has approved the recommendation of the House of Assembly which said the Chief Judge must step aside to allow for investigations into allegations made against her.
The Nigerian Bar Association had on Friday said that the removal of Ojo was an affront on the judiciary adding that the association would do everything to ensure that the rule of law prevails in the end.
