Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Abuja following the conclusion of his trip to New York, United States where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Shettima landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Wednesday day night, marking the end to his week-long international engagement which also include a visit to Germany.
As contained in a press release issued on Thursday by his Media Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima had at the UNGA Summit delivered Tinubu’s national statement.
The President had in the statement called for comprehensive United Nations reforms, Africa’s sovereignty over its $700 billion mineral resources, and strengthened strategic partnerships with the United Kingdom, Gates Foundation, and other international stakeholders.
Shettima later met with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and secured his commendation for Nigeria’s bid for a permanent Security Council seat.
In another engagement during the summit, the Vice President showcased the country’s $200 billion energy transition opportunity to global investors.
Shettima would proceed to Germany where he met with the Nigerian diaspora community in the European nation.
He assured the community of robust engagement in the President Tinubu administration’s policies and programmes before his engagements in Germany.
