Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to attend Senegal’s 65th Independence anniversary in Dakar.
This is coming barely 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu left Abuja for a two-week working visit to France.
As captured in a post shared on X on Thursday, Shettima exchanged pleasantries with the Presidential jet officials while boarding the aircraft for the trip to Senegal.
This will mark the second time in six months that both Tinubu and Shettima would depart the country at the same time.
Tinubu had on the 3rd of October 2024 departed Abuja for working leave with Shettima following suit as he left for Sweden days after.
The President had, however, allayed concern over their absence amid economic hardship facing the country.
Tinubu had in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, noted that there is no leadership vacuum in the country as other arms of the government are fully functional.
