No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead in a multiple crash along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The tragic incident, involving two trucks and a bus, occured around the Mountain of Fire Ministry (MFM) Camp axis of the expressway in the early hours of Saturday.
In a video made available to NPO Reports, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were captured attempting to evacuate a deceased victim from the wreckage as onlookers gathered around the scene of the incident.
While rescue mission is still ongoing, the accident had caused severe traffic jam which brought movement to a near standstill at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The congestion, spanning from Wawa Bus Stop to Otedola Bridge, has reportedly turned one of Nigeria’s busiest highways into a scene of chaos, with vehicles inching along at a snail’s pace.
Hours into the gridlock, motorists and passengers remain trapped, their patience wearing thin as the situation shows little sign of improvement.
However, the cause of the accident is still unknown as at the time of filing this report with an official statement yet to be released by the traffic authorities.
