Nollywood actor and comedian, Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has alleged being assaulted and robbed of his possessions by police officers in Lagos State.
As captured in a now viral video shared on X on Friday, the actor was allegedly assaulted by the officers attached to the Area J Lagos Police Division.
The video showed the comedian with an injury to his left eye which rendered his face bloodied.
Ijoba Lande, who was visibly writhing in pain and disoriented could be seen asking his friends whether the attack had caused permanent damage to his eye.
He gave sharp cry after water was poured on the injured poured, prompting his friends to stop before driving him to the police station where he filed his report.
Further recounting his ordeal in a post on his Facebook handle, the comedian claimed he nearly lost his life to the assault which occurred barely six days after his arrival from the United Kingdom.
He alleged that the police who attacked him collected his iPhone and $1,200 from his brother.
“I came back from the UK 6 days ago and was attacked and beaten by police in Nigeria. They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200. I nearly lost my life,” he wrote on Facebook
However, no official statement has yet been released by the Lagos State Police Command regarding the incident.
