Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has been re-arrested by the Nigerian Police moment after being granted bail by the Kuje Magistrate Court on Friday.
The Sahara Reporters publisher was yesterday picked up by the police shortly after visiting the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court Abuja.
Despite calls for his immediate release, Sowore appeared before the Magistrate Court where he was alongside Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, and 10 others were arraigned over alleged incitement of public disturbance and breach of peace in connection with the #FreeNnamdiKanu Now protest held in Abuja.
The magistrate in its ruling granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties.
While the bail conditions were met, the celebration of the activist’s release by his supporters was however cut short as police again stormed the court premises and reportedly whisked him away.
According to report, he is expected to be arraigned on Monday, October 27, on a fresh charge related to his claim that President Bola Tinubu is a criminal.
