Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the High Court’s judgement stopping the DSS from arresting the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria,Godwin Emefiele over allegation bothering on financing terrorism in the country.
NPO Reported earlier reported that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has stopped operatives of the Department of State Services from arresting the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, over allegations bothering on of financing terrorism.
The DSS had sought arrest of Emefiele over what it called “fraudulent activities and economic crimes of national security dimension.”
The DSS had on December 7,2022 filed a suit against the CBN Governor.
In his judgement yesterday,Justice Tshoho said, “In the light of the foregoing reasons, I decline to grant this application ex parte. If the applicant believes that the evidence available to it so far is sufficient, then it can as well arrest and detain the applicant, even without the order of the court. If however the applicant desires to still pursue this application, then it should place the respondent on notice considering the sensitive public office that he occupies.”
In his reaction via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday,Sowore said, the court’s judgement was one of the evidences that President Muhammad Buhari’s regime lacks coordination in all the facets of his activities since he resumed office in 2015.
Sowore alleged that, the DSS approached the court to secure arrest of Emefiele without any viable evidence adding the arrest and charging could have been done according to the crimes alleged in their affidavit.
“The @cenbank thieving Gov. @GodwinIEmefiele vs Lawless DSS court injunction drama shows how incompetence and lack of coordination by the shambolic and disgraceful @MBuhari regime has become.
“DSS approaching a high court to secure an order to arrest Emefiele when they could have arrested him anyways and charge him for the crimes alleged in their affidavit.
“The same lawless agency that went to Kenya to kidnap @MaziNnamdiKanu could not arrest @GodwinIEmefiele for terrorism related offences?
now yesmen & rented-a-crowd are happy,” he tweeted
