Human Rights activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, has slammed Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, over his reaction against statement made by the 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
NPO Reported that Obi had on Monday decried the state of Nigeria’s democracy.
Speaking at the 60th birthday colloquium of former Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, in Abuja, Obi held that Nigeria’s democracy has collapsed under the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, stressing that nothing works again.
“If you look at where we are today, it is like yesterday the 1999, some people came and took it a decade and some people were trying to raise it first floor. And some people came and knock everything down.
“That is the situation where we are now. Everything has been knocked down. Nothing works and I’m somebody who can say this exemplarily.” Obi had said.
The Presidency would fire back at the former Anambra state governor as Onanuga, in post on his X handle on Monday evening, claimed Obi’s remark was illogical and made without deep reflection.
He labelled as discontented and disgruntled, stressing that he would have been able to make such remark in Abuja if indeed democracy has collpased.
“The statement made by Bayo Onanuga about Peter Obi’s comments yesterday is completely and insanely ludicrous, and the fact that he made such a statement is a testament to the total collapse of “Democracy” under the Tinubu’s regime.
“I must state also that they keep saying and doing such things to Peter Obi because they know he is a wimp!” Sowore wrote.
