Sports Minister, Others Boycott Oyo APC Congress as Folarin Camp Elects Ex-Commissioner as Chairman
A former Commissioner in Oyo State Isaac Omodewu has emerged the chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Oyo State.
This was at a Congress held at the Liberty Stadium Ibadan on Saturday.
However party bigwigs such as Sports Minister Sunday Dare, Postmaster General of the Federation Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, governorship candidate of the party in the last election, Bayo Adelabu and others stayed away from the process.
Those at the Congress which was attended by Chairman of the party’s congress committee Gambo Lawan include Senator Teslim Folarin, Senator Fatai Buhari Son of former Governor of the state And former House of Representatives member Dapo Lam-Adesina, and some members of the House of Representatives.
Omodewu who was a Commissioner for Housing in the state said he would ensure all aggrieved members of the party are appeased.
Saturday’s Congress further deepened the crisis in the party as the two warring camps appear set for a total showdown.
The seeming irreconcilable differences within the party led the party to defeat in the last election.
However it was also gathered that four members of the Congress committee left Ibadan earlier than expected as they said there were needs to conduct a credible Congress if the party would be truly United in the state.
