Police men from the Edo command have arrested the husband of Mrs Toluige Babalola Lawal over the death of his wife. Mrs. Babalola-Lawal became popular in 2020 after a video of her son, Oreofeoluwa went viral where the then four year old toddler was telling her to calm down.
The boy had apparently come under punishment but was pleading with his mother to show leniency and also calm down.
Spokesperson of the Edo state police command, Chidi Nwabuzor, said her husband has been arrested and detained for questioning while speaking with BBC Pidgin.
The police spokesperson quoted the husband to have said that “he came home from the market when he saw his wife hanging with rope on her neck”.
Nwabuzor said she was rushed to the hospital and then to the mortuary after she was confirmed dead. In the freshness of the matter, the Lagos state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had invited the family for a chat where he expressed his affection for the boy for his courage and brilliance.
“Mummy Calm Down” instantly became a catch phrase with some outdoor advertisers using it as campaign words. Since the family was invited and came into limelight three years ago, not much has been heard of them until her death was announced during the week
