Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, has lost his father, Sunday Ndidi, in tragic road accident.
The footballer’s father was reportedly struck by a vehicle in Umunede on Tuesday morning and rushed to a hospital in Agbor.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
His death was announced in an official statement issued on Tuesday by Ndidi’s club, Besiktas.
The Turkish club expressed its sadness over the tragic incident as it extended its condolences to the family of the former Leicester City man.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi‘s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident.
“May Allah grant mercy to the deceased; we extend our condolences to our footballer Wilfred Ndidi, his family, and loved ones.” Besiktas wrote.
Ndidi joined the Turkish outfit last summer for over £10million having spent eight years with Leicester City.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international made more than 300 appearances for the Foxes with 220 coming in the Premier League.
