The Supreme Court has fixed May 9 (tomorrow) as the day to give judgment in the dispute over the July 16, 2022 governorship election in Osun.
The apex court on Monday fixed tomorrow after taking the addresses of disputing parties on the matter. NPO Reports that the former Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, had approached the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the Appeal Tribunal which declared Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner of the election. The election tribunal had earlier declared Oyetola winner of the election, a decision challenged by Adeleke at the Appellate court.
After setting aside the judgment of the tribunal, the appeal court, had awarded N500,000 cost against the All Progressive Congress, APC, and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola. The judgment was delivered by Justice Mohammed Lawal. There is tension in the state as supporters of both parties wait with bated breath what comes out of the apex on Tuesday.
