The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deleted photos of its officials petition for the recall of suspended Kogi lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, raising suspicion over the credibility of the recall process.
A group of Kogi Central Senatorial District constituents had last week initiated the recall process for the Natasha over her six-month suspension by the Red Chamber.
NPO Reported that the recall process, however, raised public scrutiny as the organizers allegedly deceived voters to sign the petition under the guise of empowerment programme.
Natasha had also dismissed the recall process, accusing her oppositions of orchestrating the process.
However, the constituents, under the aegis of Concerned Kogi Youths and Women, reaffirmed their call for Natasha’s withdrawal from the Senate as they yesterday submitted the petition to INEC.
In a twist of an event, the electoral body, which had earlier on its Facebook page shared pictures of its officials receiving the petition, would delete all the posts.
Also, NPO earlier Reported a leaked online video showing some suspected members of Natasha’s constituency forging voters’ signature for her recall.
These raised suspicion over the credibility of the controversial recall process.
When contacted Tuesday morning over the matter, Spokesman to the chairman of INEC, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, said the commission would respond to the submission of the petition and the photos of the submission that were deleted.
