No fewer than ten people have been confirmed dead following a shooting at a secondary school in the Austrian city of Graz, police say.
Among the dead victims were students, at least one adult and the suspected gunman, while several other were seriously injured.
According to the BBC, the shooting happened at the Dreierschützengasse high school in Austria’s second-largest city at about 10:00 local time.
Police say the school has been secured.
Reacting to the development, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker calls the shooting a “national tragedy” and says there are no words for the pain and grief the country is feeling.
Also reacting through his spokesman was the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer who expressed his thoughts with everyone affected and the people of Austria.
The spokesman added that there’s an ongoing police investigation, but the PM will give an update “when I can comment further”.
