A gas cylinder explosion that resulted in a later night fire on Saturday night at the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos State.
The Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiru, who said efforts are ongoing to contain the spread of the fire, added that the incident has caused damage to some sections of edifice.
NPO Reports that the National Theatre, a monument for culture created to celebrate the Festival of Arts and Culture in 1977, is undergoing some renovations.
“There’s been an exploded gas cylinder resulting in a fire which the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is managing within the National Arts Theatre.”
Meanwhile, this is the third fire incident recorded in Lagos State in the last seven days
On Thursday, four persons reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries as fire gutted Fat Noble filling station, an independent marketing oil firm along Old Road, opposite Torikoh, Badagry, Lagos State on Wednesday, December 27.
However, as of press time the cause of the Iganmu fire incident, and the number of casualties remains unknown.
