The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji on Tuesday rained curses on those who attacked the convoy of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Ademola Adeleke.
Adeleke had led his supporters to the palace of the prominent traditional ruler as part of the campaign tour ahead of the July 16 governorship election.
NPO Reports gathered that the attackers had shot to disperse some of the frightened people who were on the convoy while the PDP candidate visited.
A visibly angry monarch who rose from his seat cursed as he mentioned the name of one Asiri Eniba who is believed to be sympathetic to the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Ataoja said while the Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the APC led their supporters to his palace, no one attacked them.
He wondered why anyone would cause mayhem when Adeleke and his supporters were visiting him.
The monarch became so angry that some of the people around him including Adeleke had to plead with him to forget the issue.
“Whoever makes attempts to cause mayhem and destroy Osogbo won’t have peace and rest of mind,” the monarch said repeatedly.
The angry comments by the monarch had caused tension.
The monarch was making reference to the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers Union for Osogbo/Olorunda branch, Kazeem Oyewale popularly called Asiri Eniba.
The development, according to information available to the NPO Reports, has caused some chieftains of the APC to express disappointment at the action of the NURTW chairman which provoked the monarch into making the public statements.
As at the time of filing this report, NPO Reports learnt that efforts were ongoing to send emissaries to the monarch to plead with him over the incident.
