A new speaker has emerged in Rivers State as Hon. Ehi Edison was on Monday elected.
Immediately he was sworn in, the new Speaker announced the dissolution of the local government administration in the state.
His action was believed to be to checkmate possible actions by the local government chairmen to stage an impeachment move against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Recall that NPO Reported earlier that the House of Assembly was set ablaze on Sunday night creating apprehension in the state.
Governor Fubara, after inspecting the burn chamber of the Assembly on Monday said he was the target of an attack alleging that he was shot at in an operation that was led by the Officer in Charge of Operations of the state command.
Monday’s tension is belieber to be in continuation of the breakdown of the relationship between the Governor and his godfather, Nyesom Wike.
Wike had installed Fubara earlier this year in an election that was largely disputed.
Until his emergence as the new Speaker on Monday, Edison was the Majority Leader of House of Assembly.
He also promised to be fair to all.
