Tension Mounts in Sokoto Over Anambra Killing of Woman, Four Children
Reports reaching the NPO Reports show that there is tension in Sokoto, Northern part of Nigeria today as some youths took to the streets again threatening retaliatory actions over alleged killing of a pregnant woman and her four children in Anambra State.
The NPO Reports learnt that non-indigenes had panicked as some of the youths made efforts to gather in different parts of the state capital apparently in moves to commence attacks on some residents who are known to be non-indigenes.
Our source said as early as 11am, parents went to withdraw children from schools in anticipation of the planned attacks especially on institutions where non-indigenes are said to be present.
“We had to withdraw children from schools because no one knew what was in the offing. But I think the state government acted fast enough to prevent the breakdown of law and order,” the source said.
Just Wednesday afternoon, the presidency warned against any retaliatory action against the alleged killing of the pregnant woman in Anambra State.
The Presidency said expert security agencies were already to establish the veracity or otherwise of the images being passed around which indicated the woman, said to be Fatima and four children were murdered by men of the Eastern Security Network.
