Dare-devil Terrorists late Thursday night gunned down a yet to be known number of soldiers at a military checkpoint in Abuja, the nation’s seat of power.
The number of casualties could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
Gunshots were said to have been heard along the highway forcing motorists to beat a retreat as the gunmen were said to have confronted soldiers stationed at a military checkpoint in front of the Zuma Rocks.
The gunmen had reportedly arrived at the scene and went straight to shoot at the soldiers manning the checkpoint.
The checkpoint is one of the many military pin down points where security men check for criminals.
Zuma Rock, a tourist attraction is located immediately west of Nigeria’s capital Abuja, along the main road from Abuja to Kaduna off Madala, and is sometimes referred to as the “Gateway to Abuja from Suleja”. It is approximately 46 minutes drive to the presidential villa where Nigerian President sits.
The attack is coming four days after the killing of three members of the elite Presidential Brigade of Guards at Bwari.
The attacks were predicted after the break into kuje Medium Security Correctional centre earlier in the month.
More than 40 commanders of the Boko Haram insurgents were released during the attack.
The shooting sent panic waves across the entire entire covering Kubwa Bwari and other areas as the gun men took control of the area before the arrival of soldiers deployed from the Zuma Barracks.
There has not been an official statement since the incident.
