A troop of the Nigerian Army has come under attack from suspected terrorists on their way to rescue the abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi state.
The troop were reportedly ambushed on their to secure the freedom of the students Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.
The schoolgirls were reportedly abducted from their hostels on Monday morning following the terrorists’ attack on their school.
While the attack had drawn public condemnation with calls for the release of the over 25 abducted students, the troop were said to have embark on the rescue mission.
They were unfortunately ambushed with videos showing some of the attacked soldiers receiving treatment on gun injury sustained during the attack.
Meanwhile, two soldiers had taken to the social media to lament the spate of ambush attacks and killings of their colleagues.
The soldiers, in a separate video shared on X, expressed their concern over the development, stressing their rate of mourning is now more than their rate of celebration.
“We are tired of losing our young soldiers, young boys in the process of ambush. Ya Allah we don’t know who be next.
“Ya Allah guide the military. We pray for long life. Inna Lillahi don plenty pass Alhamdulillah for the military. Pray for the military.” one of the soldiers.” Whose identity could not be confirmed, said in his video.
The other soldier on his part demanded the recruitment of politicians’ son into the army for them to witness what it feels to be ambushed.
“The way I dey lose my colleagues is getting to things wey be say he dey commot tears from my eyes day by day. In this country we have 36 governors. We have like 109 Senators. Even the Ministers, we have like almost 60.
“We have House of Representatives, 774 Chairmen of Local Governments. Let each one of them bring their son to join the Nigerian Army.
“Make dem join the Nigerian Army, not even the Officers Cadre. Make dem join the other ranks.
“Let them join the other ranks so that they can witness what we wey no get people dey also witness.
“Every day by day, this killing is too much. We dey lost our colleagues to ambush. You go lost colleague you go cry tire. Who knows who is next?” He said.
