Accuses Him of Being Vengeful
- Safiu Kehinde
Renowned social media user simply identified as Bolanle A., has accused Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) of being vengeful over his legal tussle with Human Rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi.
Reacting to the ongoing defamation suit against Farotimi in a post on her X handle yesterday, Bolanle held that the world will rather remember the embattled lawyer for his book than Babalola’s age-long legacy.
NPO reported that the elder statesman had sued Farotimi for defamation of character over the the book titled ‘Nigeria and its Corrupt Justice System’.
Farotimi had, in the book, accused Babalola of corrupting the judiciary, leading to the founder of Afe Babalola University of Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) taking legal actions against him with the latest being the seizure of all physical copies of the book as well stoppage of further publication and distribution.
Bolanle, however, held that every action taken by Chief Afe Babalola since the 3rd of December clearly confirmed what Farotimi wrote in the book.
She said Babalola’s fight is no longer a fight for reputation, but for vengeance.
“Chief Afe Babalola, every action you’ve taken since the 3rd of December has only confirmed what my brother @DeleFarotimi wrote in his book.
“This is no longer about your reputation. Trust me, that ship has already sailed. This is now about you wanting to exact revenge on Dele.
“Unfortunately for you, the whole world now sees you as a vengeful old man who is using the corrupt judicial system to punish a man who by all indications was right about you.
“I don’t know how much longer you have left on this side of eternity, but know this, all we are going to remember is Dele’s book and every action since 3rd December…” Bolanle wrote.
