The Imo State Police Command’s Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma, has tasked personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity as the enforcement of third-party insurance policy begins.
In the wake of the Inspector General of Police’s, Kayode Egbetokun, directive of the enforcement of the policy compliance, Danjuma mobilized the officers attached to the Command for the exercise while reinstating the IGP’s warning against extortion of motorists.
As seen in a video to the statement issued on the Command’s X handle, by its spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the Police Command tasked the officers to lecture the motorists on the advantage of the third-party insurance.
“You lecture the men about the advantage of third-party insurance. As the Inspector General of Police warned, there is no room for extortion. You are there for enforcement.” He said.
Addressing newsmen during the exercise along Owerri-Onitsha road, Danjuma disclosed that the Board of Internal Revenue and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are part of the enforcement team.
The Command’s spokesperson, Okoye, also confirmed in the statement, the presence of Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs) and staff of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service during the exercise.
