As Senate Puts Off Her Microphone
- Safiu Kehinde
Lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial Constituency, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused the Senate of injustice following her six-month suspension over misconduct.
The embattled Senator made the accusation at the Red Chamber’s plenary session following her immediate suspension on Thursday.
In a last resort, Natasha held that the injustice against her will not stand.
She was, however, cut short as the Senate put off her microphone.
“The injustice will not be sustained. The pursuit for justice…” She said before the microphone was turned off.
NPO earlier reported that the Senate Committee had recommended the suspension of the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.
As read by its Chairman, Neda Imasuen, the Committee also recommended the withdrawal of her security details and stoppage of her salary and other emoluments within the period of her suspension.
The lengthy suspension was initially affirmed by the lawmakers as they rejected the prayer for the consideration of a written apology from her.
However, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, restated the prayer for the consideration of a written apology.
Following mixed responses, Akpabio ruled in favour of the prayer.
This, by implication, implies that Natasha stand a chance of getting her suspension reduced if she tenders a written apology to the Senate for consideration.
