Thousands of APC Members Besiege Secretariat in Osun; Tell Appeal Committee Consensus Was Kangaroo

Members of the Osun State All Progressive Congress in their thousands besieged the secretariat of the party to confront the party’s Appeal Committee with evidences that what the chairman of the party Prince Gboyega Famodun and Governor Gboyega Oyetola presented as consensus agreement during the last ward congress was a mere kangaroo.

The secretariat, located along the busy Osogbo-Gbongan Road, was blocked as members trooped to provide evidence to the appeal committee who arrived in the state capital on Friday.

Tension arose when members of the party who belong to The Osun Progressives (TOP) faction confronted some thugs allegedly sent to disrupt the gathering at the party secretariat.

TOP members accused Governor Oyetola of sending the thugs to disrupt the protests.

The thugs were said to have emerged from nowhere holding dangerous objects to attack party members as they chanted “TOP!” TOP!! TOP!!!

However, not afraid of the thugs and their dangerous objects, the party members confronted and overpowered them dealing some blows on the faces of a few of them before the rest of the gang fled.

Men of the Nigerian Police Force from the Osun Command watched as the party members made their protests known to the Appeal Committee.

The angry APC members told the committee that they held a congress where party executives were elected in all the wards of the state.

Chairman of the TOP and former APC Chairman, Elder Lowo Adebiyi, briefed the committee how members of the party trooped out two weeks ago at all the wards to elected new executive council members of the party.

He said it was fraudulent for Governor Oyetola and Famodun to present a wrong impression to the state congress committee led by Hon Elegbeleye that the party had resolved on consensus.
