President Bola Tinubu has on Tuesday arrived in Lagos the 50th Anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the President touched down at 4.15 pm with the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, And other officials receiving him.
Tinubu , who doubles as ECOWAS Chairman, will be hosting other Heads of State and Government of the community on Wednesday at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) and Eko Hotels and Suite.
As part of the event to mark the regional bloc’s golden jubilee events, which began in Accra last month, the Lagos events will include reenacting the 1975 declaration at thee Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Victoria Island.
Also set to participate in the ceremonies and deliver a speech at the Eko Hotels is the surviving Head of State who signed the ECOWAS declaration, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd).
Following the conclusion of the event, Tinubu will be commissioning some of his administration’s projects in Lagos.
Amongst the project, according to Onanuga, are Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road, the flag-off of Section II of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, and the 7th Axial Road.
The President will also virtually commission Kano-Kanwar-Danja-Hadejiya Section II Road and Yakasai-Zalli Road and flag off the Kano Northern By-pass, Zaria-Hunkuyi-Dabai Section I, Dabai-Kafur Malumfashi, and Malumfashi-Dayi-Yashe-Gidan Mutum Daya Section III.
He will finally observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House, Dodan Barracks, before returning to Abuja.
