President Bola Tinubu has on Thursday commissioned Anambra State Government House built by the state governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
Tinubu had earlier arrived at Awka, the state capital, for the commissioning of the first ever official government house in the 34 years history of the state.
Prior to the construction of the government house which spanned nearly eight hectares in Awka, the past administrations used the makeshift facilities in Amawbia.
Soludo, in his address at the commissioning of the edifice, described Tinubu’s visit as historic and consequential as he claimed the last such Presidential visit occured was in 2012.
The governor, however, highlighted several other projects which include roads, hospitals, and flyover bridges waiting for commission.
“Your visit to Anambra today, Mr. President, is historic and consequential. The last state visit by a President was in 2012 ostensibly to commission a brewery and another private enterprise.
“This visit is not just to commission projects. We have over 500,000 kilometres of roads, flyover bridges completed and waiting for commissioning.
“We have about five brand new General Hospitals and world class centres completed, equipped and waiting for commissioning.” Soludo said.
The President, who was accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and other dignitaries, earlier inaugurated the Emeka Anyaoku Insitute of International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University as well as the Solution FunCity which featured the Anambra Country Club, a Family Fun House, a Water Park, and an Amusement Park.
Meanwhile, Tinubu, in the one-day working visit will also be holding a town hall meeting with the Southeast leaders.
