President Bola Tinubu and former Military Head of States, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), have arrived at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos, for the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
NPO Reported that Tinubu had yesterday landed in Lagos ahead of the regional bloc’s anniversary.
As captured in a post shared on X on Wednesday, the President who doubles as ECOWAS Chairman arrived at the venue under heavy security details.
He was ushered into the institute where he met Gowon, exchanging pleasantries with the former military ruler.
The ECOWAS golden jubilee celebration which began in Accra, Ghana, last month, will include reenacting the 1975 declaration at the Lagos event.
Also billed to deliver a speech at the second segment of the event at Eko Hotels is Gowon who is the only surviving Head of State that signed the ECOWAS declaration.
