A notable Nigerian columnist, Femi Aribisala, has accused the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of committed perjury.
Aribisala is an ex-student of the Government College, Ibadan, one of the schools the APC candidate had claimed he attended.
Aribisala, who took to his social media page on Saturday to remind Nigerians how he accused Tinubu of lying, said the present claim by Tinubu that he did attend primary or secondary school means that he lied in his earlier claims.
“I wrote in 2014 that Tinubu’s affidavit that he attended Government College Ibadan (GCI) between 1965 and 1968 is false,” Aribisala wrote
Saying he never saw Tinubu as a fellow student at the college, he said, “I was in GCI from 1962-1968, and Tinubu was not there. Tinubu now tells INEC he did not go to primary or secondary school. This means he committed perjury.”
NPO Reported earlier that in an affidavit deposed and submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission by Tinubu, the APC candidate said he attended primary and secondary schools but the evidences had been stolen when his residence was targeted for raids during the military regime.
In the forms filled by Tinubu, he had left the columns for his primary and secondary schools education blank and unfilled.
He stated that he obtained a degree in Business and Administration in 1979.
He said: “I went on self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998.
“When I returned I discovered that all my property, including all the documents relating to my qualifications and my certificates in respect of paragraph three above, were looted by unknown persons.
“My house was a target of series of searches by various security agents from the time the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was forced to adjourn following the military takeover of government of 17th November 1993.”
