The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, in the last general election, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has reportedly held a meeting with the president-elect, Bola Tinubu in France. The meeting, NPO Reports learnt, was to open talks on the possibility of the former Governor of Kano, joining Tinubu’s government after its inauguration on May 29, this year. Recall that Tinubu defeated Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi, who flew the flag of the Labour Party in the election.
Kwankwaso, had left the PDP to contest the presidential election with his party clinching the governorship seat in Kano. Kwankwaso had demonstrated his supremacy in the politics of Kano over and above the outgoing Governor, Umaru Ganduje. Ganduje is a loyalist of Tinubu and has been with his presidential project from the start.
An aide to the president, Bashir Ahmad, in his reaction to the development, said Kwankwaso’s joining Tinubu would be a plus for the APC and Tinubu.
