The Presidential Candidate of the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC),Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the former President of the country, Olusegun Obasanjo for restoring peace in Ethiopia after two years of conflicts in the country.
Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the African Union Mediator, had yesterday presided over the signing of a peace deal between the Ethiopian Government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).
Welcoming Ethiopia’s government and the Tigray forces to a signing ceremony on Wednesday in South Africa’s capital Pretoria, where talks have been held since Oct. 25, he said the agreement would allow the restoration of humanitarian supplies to Tigray.
Obasanjo stepped down from Nigeria’s presidency in 2007 and presided over elections that marked the first handover of power from one civilian head of state to another in Nigeria since it became independent from Britain in 1960.
Lauding the former President on Thursday in a statement via his tweeter handle,the former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu commended the statemanship of Obasanjo for his contribution towards the Stability of the African continent.
The former Lagos State Governor hoped the recent success recorded would ultimately and permanently quench the conflict in Ethiopia.

“I commend the statesmanship of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as he continues his contribution to the stability of the African continent with a successful diplomatic mission in Ethiopia where he led the mediation of an important peace treaty,” he said
“It is hoped that the process results, ultimately, in the permanent resolution of the conflict and a full commitment to the cause of unity, restoration, and development.”
