President Bola Tinubu has mourned former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Zakari Ibrahim following his death earlier this week.
The President expressed his condolences in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday.
Tinubu, as contained in the statement, commiserated with the people of Katsina, the state government, and the Emirate Council where he held the title of Talba.
While praying for the late 81-year-old NIA DG who also served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Tinubu urged his family immortalize him by embodying the virtues he stood for.
The statement read in part; “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sends condolences to the family of Ambassador Zakari Ibrahim, 81, who passed away on Sunday.
“Ibrahim was a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
“President Tinubu also commiserates with the Government and people of Katsina State and the Katsina Emirate Council, where the retired intelligence officer held the esteemed title of Talba.
“At various times, the late Ambassador Ibrahim was the deputy national security adviser, director-general of the NIA, and minister of state for foreign affairs.
“President Tinubu says the deceased’s service to the nation as an intelligence officer, diplomat and community leader would be remembered long after his death.
“The President prays for the repose of his soul and urges his family and proteges to immortalise the late intelligence chief by embodying the virtues he stood for.”
Meanwhile, not only are the Zakari family mourning the late NIA DG but are also mourning the shocking demise his youngest son, Mubarak Zakari.
NPO reported that the 34-year-old man died barely 24 hours after the burial of his father.
