At exactly 10.39am on Monday May 29, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in in Abuja Nigeria as Nigeria’s 16th president.
He was sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Kayode Ariwoola. His Vice President, Kashim Shettima, had earlier been sworn in after taking oath of office and oath of allegiance.
Tinubu was accompanied by his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
“I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, do solemnly swear that I will not allow my personal interests to influence my official conduct or decisions… So help me, God,” the new President said before Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
It was a moment of history as Tinubu, his wife, Vice President and his wife filed out amidst cheers while former President Muhammadu Buhari looked on while intermittently clapping.
For Tinubu, it was a dream come true. The former Governor of Lagos state beamed with smiles as he took his oath office.
