President Bola Tinubu is set to unveil the construction of Lagos-Abuja railway projects with high-speed bullet train.
The construction phase, which is expected to last between 48 and 52 months, is aimed at reducing travel time between the two cities from 12 hours to just 2-3 hours
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Director of Operations at Geofocus Consortium, Engineer Yinka Idris.
According to Idris, an independent power plant will also be constructed to support the train’s operations.
“Currently, travelers between Lagos and Abuja face long hours in traffic, safety concerns, and reduced productivity.
“An independent power plant will also be constructed to support the train and surrounding infrastructure,” Idris said.
According to report, the country transportation sector is poised for a significant transformation with the introduction of the High-Speed Bullet Train as the project has completed its feasibility studies and secured proof of funds.
The project, however, awaits approvals from the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) before construction begins as Idris assured that Nigerians of improved quality of life under Tinubu’s administration.
“As Nigeria moves closer to realizing this dream, citizens can anticipate a future of seamless travel, improved quality of life, and enhanced economic opportunities under President Tinubu’s leadership,” he concluded.
