Nigerian athlete and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, has sealed a spot in the semi-finals of the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo with on Sunday.
Amusan secured an automatic slot into the semis as she clocked 12.53seconds to win heat six.
She finished ahead of Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas (12.69seconds) and Italy’s Elena Carraro (12.86seconds).
According to report, Amusan, who remains one of the favourites for the title, will line up in Semifinal Heat 2 alongside Nadine Visser (Netherlands), Amoi Brown (Jamaica), Alaysha Johnson (USA), and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, among others on Monday.
Meanwhile, Nigeria also recorded a new historical feat in the male category as Kanyinsola Ajayi becomes the first Nigerian to proceed to the World Championships 100m final in 18 years since Olusoji Fasuba achieved the feat in 2007.
