Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has been dragged to court in a N200 million lawsuit over the viral video of her controverisal deliverance session on a schoolgirl in Edo State.
NPO Reported that the actress had last week come under public backlash after a video of her performing a deliverance on the schoolgirl during an evangelism outreach surfaced online.
Netizens had expressed displeasure over the conduct of the session which saw the actress firmly holding the girl’s head while some of her team members pinned her to the floor as she writhe under their grip.
Days after the incident, a human rights lawyer, Ikechukwu Obasi, filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against Dikeh.
Obasi slammed a N200 million lawsuit on the actress at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, accusing her of violating the rights of the female student.
According to reports, the lawyer labelled the act as a vicious religious deliverance ritual.
This had again sparked mixed reacrions from netizens as some supported the lawsuit while others backed the actress.
