Tottenham Hotspur was, on Saturday, handed 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United in the first Premier League fixture of the year 2025.
The North London club had experience drop in performance in the few games.
They, however, hoped to return to winning ways against the Magpies.
Barely four minutes into the game, Dominic Solanke put Spurs into the lead with an header.
Unfortunately, the Ange Postecoglou-led side failed to hold on to the lead as Newcastle equalized two minutes after courtesy Anthony Gordon’s goal.
The visitors would again find the back of the net as Alexander Isak’s 36th minute tapped in a cross from Jacob Murphy to put Newcastle in the lead before halftime.
Tottenham struggled to get back to the game in the second half, but their efforts were denied by Newcastle’s watertight defense.
With no goals from both sides, Newcastle stole all three points as they edged past Tottenham.
The Magpies victory saw them climb 5th on the Premier League table with 35 points while Tottenham languish in the 12th position with 24 points.
