United States singer, Ciara, was full of kind words for Lagos during her visit to the state.
The global icon had on Thursday arrived ahead of the 2025 Lagos Fashion Week.
On her arrival at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Ciara in a video shared across social media platforms expressed her excitement on being back to Lagos which she claimed to be cleaner now than it used to be during her previous visits.
“I’m so happy to be here, I’m really excited. It’s not my first time in Lagos, I’ve been here a few times so I know about Lagos,” she said.
“I love Lagos. But you know what? Lagos, from what I’ve seen, it’s like an evolution of Lagos. So, when I used to land, I would see all the dirty roads, now its pavement.” She said.
Shortly after settling in, Ciara commenced her tour across the city, visiting markets and streets before paying a courtesy visit to the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
As seen in a clip of their encounter shared on X, Sanwo-Olu who was all smiles greeted the superstar who responded cheerfully
“Hi, How are you?” The governor had asked
“Amazing.” Ciara replied before Sanwo-Olu jokingly accused her of taking over the city.
“I think you’ve taken over the city.” The governor said.
“I am home.” The mother of three replied.
The Governor continued, “Definitely, in a real way. As you can see, this is real home. You have gone to places where the real heart of our city is, where the market is, where the children are, where the energy lives.”
Ciara was also hosted at the famous Nike Arts Gallery where a group of traditional dancers entertained her.
The 40-year-old singer joined dance troop, showing little of her dance steps before being dressed in adire attire.
A video shared on X on Thursday showed the singer fully endowed in the native attire.
She crowned her stunning outfit with a near-perfect Yoruba speech “Eko o ni baje”.
Ciara thereafter made stunning appearance on the Lagos Fashion Week runway at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
She stole the spotlight in a captivating outfit by Nigerian luxury brand Onalaja.
As seen in a post shared on X, the singer appeared in a long-sleeved dress with a striking ombré gradient that flowed from coral and orange to purple, blue and rainbow tones.

Her appearance attracted applause from the spectators.
