Many would be registrants are stranded in the Ijesha area of Lagos as some touts on Friday stormed the venue of the voters registration and snatched the machines with which officials were carrying out the exercise.
It was learnt that many residents had gathered for the registration to beat the ongoing exercise which comes to an end on Sunday july 31.
The touts were said to have emerged suddenly and made for the machine to the surprise of many.
It was learnt that policemen who came later were told the direction which the touts went.
The policemen promised to trace the hoodlums and retrieve the machines.
The incident which happened at St-Brigid Catholic Church, Ijesha left hundreds stranded as the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were left confused.
As at the time of filing this report, the INEC was yet to make a categorical statement on the development.
A resident who witnessed the incident, Uche Nworah, said he was surprised to see the audacity of the touts who he said were believed to have come from Ojuelegba area.
Another witness, Mrs. Peju Adedamola, said the touts were ready to injure those gathered to have their say saying, “It is so disgusting. They came holding sticks and some of them smoking hemps. No one even challenged them but I think it is useless doing this,: she said
