Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has called out Nigerian cinemas over poor allocation and scheduling of showtime for her new movie, Over Sabi Aunty.
Abraham expressed her frustration with the cinemas in a now viral video shared on X on Friday.
The actress, whose new movie was released in cinemas nationwide from the 19th of December, accused the cinemas of sharp practices in ticket sales and showtime allocation.
“Some people will go to the cinema; you will tell them that Over Sabi Aunty is sold out so that they call watch another movie.
“Meanwhile, Over Sabi Aunty is not sold out. A lot of things are going on. Look at showtime, you will give one person one show. How will the person make money?
“I produced a good film. I directed and did a lot of contents, a lot of publicity so that people can come to the cinema. Imagine giving someone one show, how will the person make money?” She said.
Abraham further slammed the cinemas over scheduling of the movie which, according to her, mostly fall on periods where viewers’ turnout is mostly likely to be low.
“Even if you are giving two or three shows, you will give someone 10am. Who is awake by 10am during festive period? Then the next show will be 9pm. Who wants to watch a movie till 11pm or 12am?
“The reason why I’m speaking out right now is because a lot of things are in the cinema. You will even see Mr. Niyi complaining. He is not lying.” She added.
