A male passenger of Nigerian local airline, Ibom Air, has tragically died while on board the airline’s flight en route from Lagos to Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday shortly after the passenger, whose identity was not disclosed, fell ill about 20 minutes into the journey.
In swift response, the flight crew made frantic efforts to stabilise him with first aid while the pilot radioed the control tower at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to declare a medical emergency.
According to reports, the flight was granted clearance to land at the Presidential Wing of the airport to avoid congestion.
Unfortunately, all attempts to revive the passenger upon landing were unsuccessful as he was pronounced dead after being evacuated from the aircraft by emergency responders.
However, no official statement has been issued by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Ibom Air to confirm the incident.
