Angry Nigerians protesting against continued scarcity of Naira have blocked the Lagos-Ibadan Highway.
The protesters had taken to the very busy road as early as 8am on Friday at the Mowe area of the route. Passengers on their ways to Ibadan, Benin, Shagamu or Abeokuta and other parts of the country were forced to stop as the youths had blocked the two lanes of the route with disused tyres and other objects while making bonfires.
A resident of Arepo Journalists Estate told the NPO Reports that some youths had blocked the highway from the Ibafo end as he was coming back from Ibadan. He said he is currently taking refugee at a church in Ibafo. “We are stranded. I left Ibadan at about 7am and here we are now. No vehicle can move now. We are stranded.” he told the NPO Reports on phone.
