The Nigerian Army says its troops have in the last 24 hours neutralised scores of terrorists, rescued 34 kidnap victims and apprehended several collaborators across theatres of operations.
A credible source at Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that troops have sustained intensified offensives against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements nationwide.
In the North-East, he said the troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled an ISWAP/JAS attack on Delwa village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno, neutralising one terrorist and recovering arms and ammunition.
He added that troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, supported by Hybrid Force and local hunters, ambushed terrorists around Ngirbuwa in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe, killing several fighters and recovering weapons and a bicycle.
Under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the source said the troops of 3 Brigade and DSS operatives apprehended a suspected terror collaborator in Kano who was allegedly working with a wanted terrorist leader known as ‘Slow Gwaska’.
He said two mobile phones and other items were recovered.
According to him, troops in Kebbi also arrested four suspected terror informants, while others in Zamfara responded to terror attacks that left one civilian injured and several kidnapped.
“An IED explosion on the Gwashi–Nasarawa road claimed four lives, with troops securing the scene to prevent further blasts.
“In Katsina, troops and NDLEA personnel recovered a fabricated rifle, ammunition and cannabis during a raid in Faskari Local Government Area, though the suspect fled,” he said.
The source further revealed that troops of Operation Mesa, apprehended an armed robbery suspect in Lagos linked to a previous attack in Akwa Ibom, while soldiers of 12 Brigade rescued 34 kidnap victims during a night patrol near Obajana in Kogi.
He said the troops of Operation Whirl Stroke also arrested a suspected militia member in Nasarawa Eggon accused of involvement in the killing of two locals during a land dispute.
