The Nigerian Army troops attached to the Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued nine kidnapped victims in Kogi state.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army Second Division, Lt. Col. Polycarp Okoye.
According to the statement, the kidnapped victims were rescued on Tuesday during a night patrol along Egbe – Okuran in Kogi State, and Okoloke through Patigi in Kwara State.
They were reportedly found at Essalu community, in Yagba west LGA of Kogi.
The rescued victims comprisinf of four males and five females were all abducted from their community, Matoku, Patigi LGA in Kwara State on the 24th of September.
On interrogation, the victims revealed that about three weeks ago, the terrorists raided their village and kidnapped several persons.
It was also disclosed that the criminals rustled unconfirmed number of cattle.
The victims further narrated that the bandits who took them suddenly became apprehensive, resulting from the troops’ sustained operations in the area.
Consequently, the terrorists were compelled by circumstances to abandon the kidnapped victims and flee.
Polycarp disclosed that the victims were administered first aid treatments and provided with food following their rescue before they were handed to Patigi LGA authority to aid them reunite with their respective families.
