At least, two persons have been confirmed dead in Osun after loyalists of two senatorial candidates in the Osun West districts clashed on Monday.
Supporters of the All Progressive Congress Amidu Tadese and his Peoples Democratic Party’s counterpart, Lere Oyewunmi had clashed with gunshots and use of other dangerous weapons.
NPO Reports gathered that the clash which led to the killing of supporters happened on Monday when both camps slated their campaigns for the same day in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
While Tadese is from Iwo, Oyewumi hails from Ikire.
“Our supporters had already erected canopy and assembled at Ward 9, Ikire before the incident occurred. We were about to start the meeting when we saw the hoodlums shooting sporadically shortly after someone offered the opening prayers at the meeting,” he said.
Tadese said Oyewumi personally led the attacks on his chasing him with his jeep.
“They were more than 30 in number led by Akogun Lere Oyewumi, the PDP Osun West Senatorial Candidate,” he said

Speaking with the NPO Reports on Monday, Oyewumi said the APC unleashed mayhem on PDP supporters leading to the death of its supporters.
“They are known for violence. You know they were the ones who created the State Boys.’ Oyewumi said.
