Osun State lawmakers Oluwole Oke and Bamidele Salam, have engaged in war of words over the former’s request to de-register the Accord Party.
Oke, who is representing Obokun/Oriade federal constituency of Osun State, had in a post on his Facebook handle called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-register Accord Party.
The lawmaker declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate for the forthcoming 2026 Osun gubernatorial election, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
Oke held that a vote for Accord Party which has incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, as its candidate is a waste.
“Any vote for Accord Party in Osun State come August 8Th 2026 Gubernatorial election is a waste . AMBO Congratulations”
“Why am I even waking this ignorant people up from their slumbering? Well App is an option . Homelessness is not a good thing o.
“Mention one elected public office holder on the platform of Accord Party in Nigeria ?
INEC abide/ obey / comply with your laws and rules. Set awon UNDERTAKERS” Oke wrote.
Reacting to the post, Bamidele faulted Oke’s post.
The lawmaker, who represents Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State at the House of Representatives, accused Oke of propagating falsehood with his post.
Bamidele held that the Electoral Act does not have Section 225 A and 84 (16) as claimed by Oke.
He charged the lawmaker to publicly apologize over the falsehood.
“I put it to you that the Electoral Act 2022 does NOT have a section 225 A and 84 (16) as indicated in this your mischievous post on your Facebook page.
“As a lawmaker who has been in Parliament for over 20 years, you owe the Public an apology for posting this falsehood and nonsensical proposition only because you now belong to a clique that is afraid of a free and fair contest for Public office.
“It is people like you that is making decent people afraid of joining politics and painting all politicians as ungodly, desperate and selfish people.
“This is not Honourable at all, sir” Bamidele wrote.
