Two suspects arrested in connection to the murder of Anambra state lawmaker, Justice Azuka, have reportedly escaped from police custody.
The suspects’ escape was confirmed by the state Police Command on Tuesday night.
As disclosed in an Instagram post on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the suspects fled while assisting operatives in investigation on the receiver of the stolen vehicles used by the criminals.
While the suspects managed to escape, the operatives apprehended of the receiver and the recovered two stolen vehicles.

NPO reported that the decomposing body of Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha 1 North Constituency, was found along the 2nd Niger Bridge on the 6th of February after over month of being kidnapped.
The late lawmaker was abducted on the 24th of December 2024 along Ugwunaobankpa Road while returning home for Christmas.

He was abducted at gunpoint in a swift operation that lasted less than five minutes.
The remains of the 40-year-old lawmaker was buried on Saturday at Onitsha following a funeral mass which had in attendance the state governor, Chukwuma Soludo and 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
