Ugandan opposition leader, Robert Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has cried out over death threat issued against him by the son of President and Army Chief, Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
This is coming days after the country’s Presidential election which saw the musician and activist turned politician contested against the age-long President, Yoweri Museveni.
The election, which was reportedly marred with violence with some supporters of Bobi Wine’s party, National Unity Platform (NUP), allegedly murdered, saw Museveni emerge winner for the 7th time, extending his over 40 years rule.
In the wake of his election defeat, Bobi Wine in a post on his X handle on Monday raised alarm over death threat against him by Museveni’s son.
The activist shared a screenshot of a post containing the death threat from Kainerugaba’s social media handle.
As seen in the post shared on his X handle on Monday evening, the Ugandan President’s son vowed to add Bobi Wine to the number of NUP supporters killed by the army.
He bragged of already murdering 22 members of the opposition party- a figure he considered too low.
Meanwhile, as against the Kainerugaba’s claim, Bobi Wine alleged that the President’s son has killed over 100 NUP supporters.
The activist called for the withdrawal of military personnel deployed to his residence which he claimed had been locked with chains with his wife and family trapped inside.
“Last night as Museveni’s son was making these threats to kill me and gloating over killing 22 of our supporters (in reality, he has killed over 100 since last week), the military who are stationed inside our compound yet again banged my house doors as they sang profanities, ordering the occupants to come out of the house if they’re men.
“The people at my home say the criminals seemed to be drunk.
“We demand that the military vacate our home immediately. My wife and people are not safe.
“They’re starving after these criminals blocked food from reaching them. They cut the padlocks of our gates and replaced them with chains. FREE UGANDA NOW.” Bobi Wine wrote.
